Details of Role:
SEND and You are recruiting for an Enquiry and Referral Officer to join our team. If you have knowledge, interest in or experience of Special Educational Needs or Disability (SEND) and can work effectively with children, young people and families, we’d like to hear from you!

The purpose of this post is to provide a helpful, clear and efficient first and central point of contact for the service. You will provide a high quality first point of contact to members of the public and professionals contacting the impartial and confidential Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support (SENDIAS) Service. You will be required to gather information, make an initial judgement about the appropriateness and urgency of any requests for our service and signpost to other services as appropriate.

The post will require a high level of communication skills as you will be dealing with enquirers who may be distressed, frustrated and/or anxious. You will communicate with a wide range of people. The role will demand a high level of initiative and personal skills in order to obtain the required information, offer the correct level of reassurance and clearly communicate the next steps, while also managing service users’ expectations.

You will also need to be resilient and an excellent team player with strong focus on improving outcomes for children, young people and their families. You will strive for excellent standards of customer service, showing empathy and understanding and offering timely information and signposting. Excellent IT skills and the ability to learn how to use new systems are essential. We will provide you with fully accredited training to carry out this role. The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Royal Oak House, Royal Oak Avenue, Bristol BS1 4GB. There is also the opportunity for flexibility and a blend of home and office working.
