Maggie qualified and worked as a local authority and medical social worker before moving to North Somerset in 1987, when she additionally trained and worked in Early Years provision. She developed and delivered a holiday playscheme for disabled children in North Somerset before becoming branch officer, and later SW Regional Councillor for the National Autistic Society.

She joined SEND and You (formerly Supportive Parents) as a local Coordinator in 1998, later becoming Development Lead and Head of Service, prior to her retirement in 2019. In addition, she has worked regionally and nationally to deliver development and change in SEND policy and practice.

Maggie has three children and a grandson with SEND and remains committed to supporting the development of improved access to and provision of services for children, young people, and their families.
