Anne has been with the organisation since it was first established in 1989 and is now a trustee after having been the treasurer of the organisation over more than one period.
She was part of the original research project team set up by the University of London Institute of Education in 1988/89 to look at the operation of the new SEN statutory assessment process in an area of the County of Avon. This research team included professionals from the health, education and social work sectors and, most importantly, parents of children with SEN. An outcome of the research was to recommend support for parents, to allow them to play a full part in the process if their child was the subject of a statutory assessment. SEND and You (formerly Supportive Parents) was established as a result and worked throughout the County.
Anne worked for many years as an Educational Psychologist and was Principal Educational Psychologist and Manager of Childrens Services in South Gloucestershire Unitary Authority before her retirement. She is a chartered Educational Psychologist and associate fellow of the British Psychological Society. She values being able to continue promoting support for parents negotiating the educational system, in order to benefit their children.
