National and Regional Services
The following websites are useful sources of information for parents and carers:
Local offer
A Local Offer is where you can find out information about help and support services that are available in your local area. It is for children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) and their families. Each local area must have a local offer.
Parent carer forums
A parent carer forum is an organised group of parents and carers of children and young people with SEND from a local area. They offer a network of support and aim to make sure that services in their area meet the needs of children and young people with SEND by gathering views and challenging when changes or improvements need to be made.
Carers Support Centre
A carer is someone who provides support to family or friends who could not manage without this help. This could be caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems. All the care they give is unpaid.
Carers Support Centre is a charity which provides support, information and advice to carers of any age living in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas. Services include practical information and advice, Carers Emergency Card, one-to-one support, liaison with professionals including hospital discharge, carers groups, counselling and befriending, and training courses.
